Not too long ago, in a galaxy not too far away, there was a game. 2D graphics, simple rules, interesting gameplay. Charm like no other game could have! And Iโm talking about not only past games, but present as well.
In a nutshell, Little Fighter 2 is a side-scrolling fighting game, in which move forward, beat everyone, go forward โ and to the main boss. Simple yet effective, as well as prooved to work. This is how Stage Mode looks like โ there are also classic Versus or Tournament modes and very interesting Battle Mode, where we set numbers for our and enemyโs armies, nad then we fight with them. Goal? Beat them all ;)
Game is presented in a 2.5D perspective, something like pseudo-3D. We can move in every direction, there are no restrictions in that. There is also a jumping sphere or on general of what is above of everyone. But the mechanic here are more advanced than that โ to mention about different types of attack, which can cancel or interact with each other. Iโm thinking about thing like magical projectiles that can be destroyed, blocked by a magical shield or even frozen. There is more โ but Iโm mentioning this one as an incentive ;)
We can play one of the 10 playable heroes, but there are more unplayable ones to accompany us (well, at least without a code ;) ). Each of the heroes has his own set of attacks or special moves. Controlling them is a walk in the park and the keyboard is sufficient โ you donโt need professional arcade stick or anything like that. So we have three commands: attack, jump and block. When combined with a directional button they make the hero make some special move โ and sometimes it can be combined with other move. I was playing it with my brother long time ago, so even kids can catch whats going on ;)
Graphics stand on a very high level. Both heroes and backgrounds are very memorable. The same goes with music, which being only for a background for a play, it does the job. And if someone would like to do so, you can swap some game files and make your own heroes or background tiles. Even the game creators encourage us to do so by putting there template files, which can be used as a starter for some mods. Itโs nice of them :)
I could not forget to mention very important thing โ we are going to have a remake of Little Fighter 2! The project is a work in progress and Marti Wong once in a while shows the wold how it goes. I wish the game would be finished soon! I canโt wait for it :)
What can I say more. Little Fighter 2 has drawn me in for like a half of my childhood โ an only because Iโve not heard of it before ;) And now is the time for you to hear about it ;) Give it a try, also because the classic version is and will be available for free. Hot itโll be with remake version โ we donโt know that. But even when Iโll have to pay for it โ Iโll do it for sure ;)
