Lindsey Stirling – Artemis (2019)

A violin. Classical music (I love it!)? Boring? Nothing like that! There are some people on this world that even when you say them they are not qualified to pass to another round, they do not give up and conquer the world on their own. Lindsey Stirling is one of them.
I remember the day – about year 2013, when I was hunting for her firs album. I bought it on first thought, as soon as I found it on one of the shops that sell such things. On the year 2019 I was an owner of her fifth album, which I will tell you about this time.
First off this is not a classical music. It is primarily violin music as this is the instrument Lindsey Striling plays on. But there are more – electronic beats and synths, even vocal parts, featuring Amy Lee and Elle King on those. Do you wonder how it works? I can tell you: marvelous!
Almost an hour-long album consists 13 tracks. Each of them has a characteristic feature – they were not created as to be, but with a story in mind, even when in majority they are only musical tracks. I mean, for the most part there is only instrumental music (that of the computer origin as well). Previous albums releases had those tiny booklets in which those stories were explained. It’s a shame we doesn’t get that this time. We have to refer to titles and music videos, that show up on artist’s YouTube channel. This time the whole album tells a united story – about becoming and the fight between light and darkness.
Each of the tracks helped me deepen my realization of how much I like Lindsey Stirling’s strokes of the bow. Virtuosity, fantasy, imagination – those are some features I could describe them. Movement, emotions, intensiveness of sensations… It’s not only a dance while playing on a violin – it’s a new method of creating and expression as well. From the first to the last sound Lindsey Stirling holds me near the speakers and doesn’t let me leave. In the best meaning possible – because she lefts me her music to accompany me for the rest of the day or even longer. And I’m very happy with that, because as the artists herself is known to be a very cheerful person, the same goes for her music.
If you’re looking for something original and like listening to electronic music – or you’re wondering how a violin sounds in a modern music, search no more! To say about this album that it’s a masterpiece, is a big understatement. I love it!
Final grade: I’m lost in daydreaming...
