When something is simple, it doesn’t mean it’s bad. It’s the opposite – all that glitters is not gold. How to find out when something that glitters is a real gold then? You just have to not judge the book by it’s cover, as a librarian like me should say. Good sentence to end this text, isn’t it? Maybe. But I will begin with it ;)

Effie is a very simple game. Simplicity shows itself not only in graphics but in the gameplay as well – we have a pretty much low-key 3D platformer here. If you haven’t caught a bug already (counting but a superficial inspection of screenshots too), I suggest you to continue reading ;) Simple cover is a first thing. Quite small amount of moves or attacks, second. Small amount of different enemies – third. Quite small ingame world, will be fourth if I count correctly. So why the actual chicken I’m writing about those right now? Because the game is simply amazing :D Think about it. When have you have to do with a game that can teach you something good without being a strictly educational or even a kids game? It could be that someone will think – it’s only but kid’s toy. Be aware that there are moments quite challenging for kids. I could even say that Effie is a product for so called 'big children'. For adults or youth that want to go back in time. And it does that very well!

OK, but why this way, and not another? Not to dive too deep into a story plot, quite simple, too (fifth!) – this game was supposed to be simple, as it strengthens it’s unique message. You know, the protagonist in 'magical circumstances' loses his youth because of his stubbornness and laziness. Do I have to continue? How many of us is longing for something that is lost, because we were chasing for the wrong things? And the Effie developers are saying it straight ahead – it’s not a game over. It’s only a beginning ;)

To be honest – even graphics were something I enjoyed. It has to be said – it has it’s charm. The rest allowed me spend a joyful couple of hours with this game. It’s a shame I don’t speak Spanish and I can’t decode what the ending song is about… But maybe one of you, my dear readers, could help me in this matter? The task is simple – finish the game, the song will play at the credits roll ;) Or check YouTube :P humms under his breath

Final grade: Ready for a new adventure?
